Hello all.
I just got my p1610 and I am pretty happy with it.
One question - It seems that there is just one landscape mode, and one portrait mode. I.e. the screen can only be displayed in two directions.
Is there a way to have display the screen another way?
For example, when using it as a laptop, and then I swivel the screen and fold it down, I want to be able to face the screen, w/o turning around the whole unit.
??? Any ideas ??? |

I found the easiest solution ws a free utility called iRotate. Don't have a URL at hand but a Google search will provide a number of sites to download from. |

Control Panel, Tablet PC settings, Display Tab. By the word Sequence, hit the 'change' button. This will allow you to select the rotation modes available and the order they cycle.

@ newst: I only have the choice of portrait or landscape. I want there to be two landscape modes and two portrait modes!
@ xsintrk: Thanks, I will check it out. |

I just tried iRotate and it's a nifty little program. I set one of the tabled buttons to the mode I like, so it's pretty easy to get the mode I want.
Ideally, I would like that when I rotate the screen it automatically gives me the display I want! |

If you download the latest graphics drivers from Intel you'll get the option to rotate the screen 360 degrees from the Desktop context menu. |

Thanks. Would you be able to provide a link to the correct driver?
When I press the tablet button for screen orientation, will it rotate all 4 directions? |

If you go to http://support.intel.com/ there's link labeled "Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows Vista* 32". Unfortunately when I click on it I get an error but I'm sure Intel will sort this out shortly. |

I was wondering if I could rotate my P1610 screen on the 4 directions when I found this topic.
Then I went to http://support.intel.com/ and downloaded the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows* XP (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&ProductID=2576&DwnldID=13284) as I am running my P1610 on Windows XP.
It is working just fine...
Is there a setup or initialization process to get this driver to work? I downloaded and ran it from the link above but my P1610 still only displays in 2 directions. Thanks. |

Right click on the screen, and there should be an option for screen rotation.

Thanks, bTaryag. It works great.
The biggest advantage for me is using 180° rotation with the fan vent pointing up (instead of blowing down on my hand and leg). |

The following steps enable the screen rotate button to cycle through all four positions. The process works on P1610s and P1620s with either XP or Vista. The headings and names listed below are from Vista; there are some minor differences in XP. Personal thanks to members tselling, rocketgsx, satanix and Kunjal Raheja for providing insights.
- Open the Registry Editor by clicking Start\Run\ then type "Regedit" and click "OK" (in Vista click Start\All Programs\Accessories\Run\)
- Before making any changes in the Registry Editor save a backup copy by selecting File\Export\ then select a folder, create a backup filename, and click "Save"
- In the left window under "Computer" progressively expand the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TabletPC\DisplayOrientations
- Click on "DisplayOrientations" (it becomes highlighted in blue)
- Select Edit\New\Key\ and a new key should appear under "DisplayOrientations"; name the new key "SecondaryLandscape"
- Click on "DisplayOrientations" again, select Edit\New\Key\ and name the new key "SecondaryPortrait"
- Highlight the newly created "SecondaryLandscape" key, select Edit\New\DWORD_(32-bit)_Value\ and name the new value "DefaultOrientationSeq"; select Edit\Modify...\ and type "3" then click "OK"
- Highlight "SecondaryLandscape" again, select Edit\New\DWORD_(32-bit)_Value\ and name the new value "OrientationMode"; select Edit\Modify...\ and type "2" then click "OK"
- Now repeat the process for "SecondaryPortrait": Highlight the "SecondaryPortrait" key, select Edit\New\DWORD_(32-bit)_Value\ and name the new value "DefaultOrientationSeq"; select Edit\Modify...\ and type "4" then click "OK"
- Highlight "SecondaryPortrait" again, select Edit\New\DWORD_(32-bit)_Value\ and name the new value "OrientationMode"; select Edit\Modify...\ and type "1" then click "OK"
- Close the Registry Editor by selecting File\Exit\ (it saves automatically, which is why it's a good idea to make a backup before you change anything)
- Open Control Panel\Tablet PC Settings\ and highlight the "Display" tab; with "Orientation" as "Primary landscape", next to "Sequence..." click "Change"; set the sequence to 1) Primary landscape, 2) Primary portrait, 3) Secondary landscape, 4) Secondary portrait.** Click "OK" to close the pop-up and click "Apply"
- Click "OK" to close Tablet PC Settings
- Reach over to your screen bezel and press the rotate button (#3). The screen should successively rotate through all four positions.
** This sequence produces a 4-position clockwise rotation. It can be changed as desired. For example, to revert to the original 2-position cycle make the sequence read 1) Primary landscape, 2) Primary portrait, 3) None, 4) None. |

I just set this up on an XP Tablet P1610 and it works fine. The only differences between XP and Vista are a few different names and title headings: "DWORD Value" instead of "DWORD (32-bit) Value", "Modify" instead of "Modify...", "Tablet and Pen Settings" instead of "Tablet PC Settings", etc. |

I just corrected a mistake in the instruction posted above. If you previously used this process with Vista, go to Control Panel\Tablet PC Settings\ and on the "Buttons" tab highlight "Button 3", click "Reset", click "Apply", and click "OK". My humble apologies for any inconvenience. |

Here's an easier solution to implementing the 4-position rotation feature.

I've posted a registry file with the necessary keys in it. You can just unzip it and double-click to add the keys.

It simply adds the necessary information, it doesn't overwrite or change anything else, no worries if you made previous changes!
PS you can open such a file (or create one) in any standard text editor. If making your own: save it as a .txt and then change the extension to .reg when you are done. FYI this is what the file contains:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TabletPC\DisplayOrientations]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TabletPC\DisplayOrientations\PrimaryLandscape] "DefaultOrientationSeq"=dword:00000001 "OrientationMode"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TabletPC\DisplayOrientations\PrimaryPortrait] "DefaultOrientationSeq"=dword:00000002 "OrientationMode"=dword:00000003
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TabletPC\DisplayOrientations\SecondaryLandscape] "DefaultOrientationSeq"=dword:00000003 "OrientationMode"=dword:00000002
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TabletPC\DisplayOrientations\SecondaryPortrait] "DefaultOrientationSeq"=dword:00000004 "OrientationMode"=dword:00000001
After adding the registry keys, set the sequence in Control Panel\Tablet PC Settings\Display\Change\ to 1) Primary landscape, 2) Primary portrait, 3) Secondary landscape, 4) Secondary portrait and click "OK", "Apply", "OK".

Great Info! I got that to work on my P1610. Can anyone tell me how to make one orientation the default when in tablet mode? I want the tablet to be 180 degrees from the default (I want the stylus "up") But cannot seem to get this to be the default no matter how I set the sequence. It always comes up with the standard orientation when I go into tablet.

Rotate the screen into the desired default orientation and open Start\Control Panel\Fujitsu Tablet Controls\Display\Save Current Profile\OK\OK\
